The HC Orli Znojmo signed in the fight to reach the playoffs the Canadian defender Brandon Burlon. The 29-year-old was most recently active for the Swedish second division club Västerviks IK. Brandon Burlon started his hockey career at the University of Michigan. After that he played in the American Hockey League for the Albany Devils (2011-2016) and the Tucson Roadrunners (2016-2017). The defender then made the leap to Europe and played one season for the Düsseldorf EG in the DEL. From Germany he switched to Norway, where he played one season for the Stavanger Oilers. At the beginning of this season he joined the Swedish second division club Västerviks IK. In 29 games, however, he could not score a point.

“Brandon is an experienced defender with over 300 American Hockey League games. He was doing well in Europe, except perhaps his last engagement in Sweden, where he felt uncomfortable. Based on his experience, we believe that he is both offensive and defensively reliable and will be an important support for our team," sports manager and head coach Miroslav Fryčer said.
