Znojmo turns two-goal deficit in home win

The HC Orli Znjomo opened the 30th round of Erste Bank Eishockey Liga with a 5:2 home win against bottom placed Dornbirn Bulldogs, as the Czech side grabbed its second victory within less than 24 hours after Friday’s win against EC-KAC (6:5). With the eighth win out of the last nine games, the “eagles” took third spot in standings, while Dornbirn remains last, losing for the sixth time in a row. The 30th round continues on Sunday with four games scheduled.

With the 5:2 home win against the Dornbirn Bulldogs, the HC Orli Znojmo delivered the preliminary season sweep over the bottom placed Austrian side. Though, the guests, which got defeated on Friday in Vienna, got off a great start, as their top scorer William Rapuzzi netted for the lead in the first minute. On powerplay Keaton Ellerby doubled up (8th) – but the home team responded quickly with Philip McRae scoring 22 seconds later after a gut interception. Znojmo turned it around in the middle frame, as first Kevin Tansey (25th) and later Robert Flick (32nd) scored in front of Dornbirn’s net. Further, the “eagles” had the game under control, notching two more in the last to grab the second win in a row.
