HC Orli Znojmo started better into the eagles-clash: Radek Cip tested goalie David Kickert already early in the game with a shot from the blue line. The Czechs then also failed to take advantage from an Power Play. In the following minutes Villach found better into the game. The Austrians came close to score in minute 15: Marek Schwarz missed the puck, which ended at the post, but Andrew Sarauer did not reach the rebound. Markus Schlacher with a shot from the blue line and Sarauer in a Power Play missed two more chances for the blue and white Eagles late in period 1. Early after the re-start came the deciding situation: EC VSV was complete again, but lost the puck on their own blue line and the counter-attack finished Marek Racuk after a pass from Jiri Beroun with a perfect shot over the shoulder of David Kickert. The Czechs were dominating now, had 14:8-shots in period 2. Already moments later Erik Nemec had the chance for the 2:0 from a sharp angel, but this time Kickert had the better end.
At halftime Villach had a good momentum, but chances from Rob Flick, Miha Verlic and Valentin Leiler stayed unused. Early in period 3 Znojmo had some chances to decide the game, but the “Red Eagles” could not score for the second time. So the Carinthians were still in the game, but Flick (from a short distance) and Patrick Platzer still could not take advantage from good chances. Now the time run for the Czechs, who defended well in the final minutes. And finally Colton Yellow Horn fixed the win for the guests with an empty-net-goal 30 seconds before the end. Znojmo won for the first time four eagles-clashes in a row.
