In exactly 100 days, the wait will be over. On September 18, the win2day ICE Hockey League will drop the puck on the 2026/27 season. Excitement is already building for the new campaign – especially as the league will once again feature 14 teams for the first time since the 2022/23 season.

With Hockey Club Milano joining the competition, the win2day ICE Hockey League welcomes another attractive market to its footprint. The Italian metropolis strengthens the league’s international profile and increases the number of Italian representatives to three, alongside HC Pustertal and HC TIWAG Innsbruck. The international field is completed by Hungarian clubs Hydro Fehérvár AV19 and FTC Telekom Budapest, as well as Slovenia’s Olimpija Ljubljana.

Just 49 days ago, the previous season came to a historic conclusion. Moser Medical Graz99ers captured the win2day ICE Hockey League championship for the first time in franchise history and now enter the new season as the defending champions and the team to beat.

Proven Format Remains in Place
The league will continue to operate under its established format in 2026/27. Following a double round-robin regular season, the top six teams will qualify directly for the quarterfinals. Teams ranked seventh through tenth will battle for the remaining two quarterfinal spots in the Pre-Playoffs before the race for the championship continues in the playoffs.

CHL Participants Face Early Start
For three clubs, the competitive season will begin well before opening night in the ICE League. Moser Medical Graz99ers, EC-KAC and EC Red Bull Salzburg will represent the win2day ICE Hockey League in the Champions Hockey League. Beginning on September 3 and 4, they will face some of Europe’s top teams and provide the first competitive highlights of the new season.

New Highlights for Fans and Partners
In addition to top-level international hockey, fans can also look forward to several exciting developments away from the ice. Together with its member clubs, the league is working on a number of projects aimed at further professionalizing its marketing, streaming and commercial operations.

One of the standout events will be the Mountain Classic. The planned outdoor game at the ski jumping venue in Bischofshofen is set to become a truly unique spectacle and generate attention far beyond the hockey community.
