Salzburg records narrow success over Bratislava
EC Red Bull Salzburg prevailed also in the second meeting with the iClinic Bratislava Capitals. It was the third win in a row for the Red Bulls. In the new year, Salzburg now holds ten out of a possible twelve points. The iClinic Bratislava Capitals, on the other hand, have only managed to pick up three points in their four games in 2021. Even without the two cracks John Paterka and Justin Schütze - the loan players returned to their regular club - Salzburg took the lead shortly before the first intermission. Comebacker Jack Skille, who was off for the last three weeks due to an injury, promptly came back with a goal. However, the league newcomer from Slovakia managed to equalize in the middle third. In the final period, the hosts went ahead twice and eventually prevailed 3-2. Skille scored a brace in his first game since December 13.

VSV celebrates first win in 2021
The EC GRAND IMMO VSV celebrated the first success in 2021. In the third season duel with the Dornbirn Bulldogs the home team prevailed again. However, while it took overtime or a shootout in the first two encounters, the Eagles were able to take a full three points this time. For the Dornbirn Bulldogs, who still had a strong December, it was already the third defeat in a row. Defender Raphael Wolf took the lead in the first period. Dornbirn briefly equalized in the middle period before Sahir Gill provided the 2-1 game-winner. With the win, the Eagles moved level in the standings with tenth-place league newcomer, iClinic Bratislava Capitals.

99ers end Caps' winning streak
The Moser Medical Graz99ers ended the five-game winning streak of the spusu Vienna Capitals with a clear 6:2 victory. After the Viennese were able to hold their ground in the first duel with the Grazers in a shootout, the Grazers took an impressive revenge. The 99ers started the offensive fireworks already in the first period, which they won 4:0. Ice debutant Michael Schiechl, who has a long Capitals past, promptly scored in his first game for the 99ers since 2009. The Viennese were unable to find their way back into the match and eventually suffered their first defeat in 2021. In the standings, the Grazers thus reduced the gap to the top-5 to eight points.

KAC remains unbeaten in 2021
The EC-KAC celebrated a 6:0 shutout victory against the last team in the standings from Linz. For KAC goalie Sebastian Dahm it was already the fifth shutout of the current season. Klagenfurt could thus after a season-spanning five defeats against Linz in a row now the second victory in a row against the Black Wings 1992. The KAC thus remain unbeaten in 2021. The scoring was opened by Nick Petersen, who scored a hat trick in the last 4-0 win over the Black Wings 1992. Klagenfurt scored twice in each period and allowed few chances from Linz. NHL defender Paul Postma laced up a brace. It was his first two goals in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. With this success, EC-KAC reduced the gap to the third-placed spusu Vienna Capitals to two points.

Fehérvár closes gap to leader
Hydro Fehérvár AV19 celebrated a clear 6:3 success over HC TIWAG Innsbruck and closed the gap in the table to leader Bozen again. The victory of the Hungarians also continues the series of away victories in this duel. In none of the three season duels between these two teams so far has a home team been able to claim more than one point. However, the hosts got off to the better start. It took Max Gerlach less than two minutes to score the opening goal for the Sharks. But then the second-placed team in the standings shifted up a gear and pulled away to 6:1 by the 36th minute. The Tyroleans could still do some cosmetic work, but not came back into this game.
