In the Alps Hockey League, the absolute top clash between second-placed Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and league leader Zell am See is scheduled for Thursday. The two teams are separated by just two points. With the Rittner Buam SkyAlps and HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, the third and fourth placed teams are also in action on Thursday. In the only Friday game, the EHC Lustenau will face the HK RST Pellet Celje. Last season´s runner-up S.G. Cortina Hafro will play at the Continental Cup from Friday to Sunday. In the third round, the Italians will play at home against the Herning Blue Fox (DEN), GKS Katowice (POL) and Ferencvárosi TC (HUN). The top two advance to the next round.

The Hockey Unterland Cavaliers slipped out of the Top-6 in the table due to the away win of the Red Bull Hockey Juniors in Cortina. However, in seventh place they are only two points behind a place in the Master Round. The EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel is tenth and four points behind the sixth place. In recent games, both teams have regularly had to go into overtime. Unterland has won two of its last three games in overtime. Kitzbühel first lost to Zell am See in the shootout, but then defeated Jesenice 1:0 in overtime in the following game. It was the first shutout in the Alps Hockey League for KEC goalie Luca Egger. The HC Gherdeina valgardena.it, on the other hand, is still only 15th in the table, but won both in Zell am See and at home against Fassa after overtime and shootout respectively before the international break. However, with thirteen points, they are already twelve points behind the sixth place. The Furie will face Jesenice for the first time this season. In the previous campaign, both teams celebrated a win on the road.

The SHC Fassa Falcons and the HC Meran/o Pircher went into the international break with a win. Fassa's 4:3/OT win against Unterland was also the Italians' first victory after six consecutive defeats. Lustenau, who is ninth in the table, already faced Celje, who are thirteenth in the table, on September 30. Back then, the league newcomer from Slovenia prevailed 4:3 and celebrated their first win in the Alps Hockey League. A very important moment, as HKC captain Jure Sotlar confirmed in an interview. Cortina is in action in the third round of the Continental Cup
