League leader Moser Medical Graz99ers will host HC TIWAG Innsbruck on Friday. The two teams already faced each other in Innsbruck on September 22. On that occasion, the 99ers prevailed 4:2. It was the Styrians' first win against HCI after four consecutive defeats. After the win in Innsbruck, Graz celebrated three more victories before narrowly losing 2:3/OT to Vienna in their last game. It was the first loss of points this season for the leaders, who are currently eight points ahead of seventh-placed Innsbruck with 16 points.

HCB Südtirol Alperia (15 points) and Olimpija Ljubljana (14 points) follow closely behind Graz in second and third place. Both teams will face each other for the first time this season in Ljubljana on Friday and have only been beaten once each in regulation so far. Olimpija lost 0:3 in Innsbruck, while Bolzano suffered a clear 2:8 defeat at home to Asiago. HCB, together with the Slovenians and Graz, is the best defensive team in the league, having conceded just twelve goals. Bolzano goalie Sam Harvey set a new record by becoming the first goalie in the league to celebrate three shutouts in the first five games. With a save percentage of 94.3%, he also has the best save percentage of any goalie this season. OLL goalie Lukas Horak has a save percentage of 93.1%.

Friday sees the second clash of the season between EC Red Bull Salzburg and HC Pustertal, with the game once again taking place in Salzburg. On October 2, the Red Bulls prevailed 7:3, but the game was still tied 3:3 until ten minutes before the end. The Red Bulls are in fourth place in the table with twelve points, while HCP are tenth with six points. During the week, Salzburg were in action in the Champions Hockey League. With a 3:1 away win at Vaxjo in Sweden, they qualified for the round of 16. With eleven points from five games, they are in a sensational second place in the table one round before the end of the league phase. It was their fifth win in a row in all competitions. In the domestic league, Salzburg were only narrowly beaten 3:4/SO by the EC-KAC in the final rematch at the start of the season. Pustertal recently beat EC-KAC 6:3 at home, before that the “Wolves” suffered three consecutive defeats. The game between Salzburg and Pustertal can be watched in the free livestream on www.live.ice.hockeywww.joyn.at and www.puls24.at/eishockey. New signing Viktor Svedberg will possibly start for Pustertal on Friday. The Swede was brought to Bruneck as a replacement for the injured Gustav Bouramman and signed a temporary contract.

In the other two Friday games, the visiting teams will play the first of two games within 24 hours on Friday. The Pioneers Vorarlberg first play at the EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, followed the next day by the second Carinthian team, EC-KAC. With four points, the Pioneers are currently twelfth in the table, just ahead of bottom team Villach. The “Eagles” celebrated their long-awaited first win of the season last Sunday in a 4:2 home win against Innsbruck. Before that, they had suffered four defeats in a row. The Pioneers have not won any of their last three games, with their only win of the season coming against Fehérvár on September 21. On Saturday, the Pioneers will face KAC, last season's quarter-final opponent. Klagenfurt won the series 4:2. This season, the KAC have four wins after eight games and is in fifth place in the table. During the week, they celebrated a surprising 3:2/OT away win at defending Champions Hockey League champion Geneva, meaning Klagenfurt still have a chance of qualifying for the round of 16.

Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey first visit the spusu Vienna Capitals before having to face Hydro Fehérvár AV19 less than 24 hours later. The match between the Veneto side in eleventh place and Vienna in eighth place can be watched live on DAZN Italia for all Italian viewers. The two teams are separated by four points. Sixth-placed Fehérvár, like Salzburg and Klagenfurt, were in action in the Champions Hockey League during the week, but were beaten 2:4 by Skelleftea. It was their fifth defeat in five games. The Hungarians have won three of their six matches in the win2day ICE Hockey League so far.
