S.G. Cortina Hafro and the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan kick off the new week in the Alps Hockey League with a supplementary game from the fourth round. The two teams last faced each other in the semifinals for the Italian Scudetto – Cortina prevailed in both encounters after overtime. In the AHL Regular Season duels, the road team won each time. Both teams are currently fighting for home ice in the playoffs: The visitors from Sterzing (#2) lost some form before the International Break and were clearly beaten by Zell am See and Ritten. Cortina (#5) lost to Bregenzerwald, but always gained points in the three intermediate round games. Cortina was not yet able to stabilize its PK in the Master Round: 70.1% in the regular season, after four intermediate round games the runners-up are at 66.7%.

Tue, 13.02.2024, 7.15 pm: Red Bull Hockey Juniors – Rittner Buam SkyAlps
Referees: KAINBERGER, MEIXNER, Pötscher, Wendner. | >> valcome.tv <<
The second supplementary game of the 4th round follows on Tuesday and thus the duel between the respective national champions: While the Rittner Buam SkyAlps won the Italian Scudetto at the end of January, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors were crowned Austrian champions in the Alps Hockey League on Saturday. Both teams recently won in the league: The "Juniors" in Zell am See after overtime, the "Buam" at home 5-2 against Sterzing. As a result, the South Tyroleans remain at the top of the Master Round – despite having played one game less, they have a three-point advantage. Ritten have won both of their previous encounters. The regular-season winners have also scored in four of their five games in Salzburg. The league leaders continue to be in a class of their own in the power play: in the four Master Round games, they have converted 41.2% of their overtime plays. Salzburg only managed 12.5%.

Alps Hockey League | Master Round | 14.02.2024 | Schedule:
Wed, 14.02.2024, 7.30 pm: EC Bregenzerwald – Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan
Referees: SCHAUER, SPIEGEL, Hesina, Rinker. | >> valcome.tv <<
On Wednesday, the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan are challenged again, opening the 7th intermediate round at EC Bregenzerwald. The "Broncos" won their last encounter with the "Wälder" 6-3 at the end of January, and Sterzing has a strong record against the Vorarlberg team: The South Tyroleans have scored in seven of the last eight encounters, winning six times. In Dornbirn, the "Broncos" recently failed to score. It was the first of two league games in which Sterzing failed to score. EC Bregenzerwald, who had a slow start to the Master Round (four defeats in their first five games), opened the second half of the season before the International Break with a win in Cortina and will be looking to turn their good form into another victory.

Zell am See with Injury Replacement
After the premature end of the season for Nick Huard due to injury, EK Die Zeller Eisbären has once again become active on the transfer market and has signed Finnish center Janne Seppänen until the end of the season. The 28-year-old played for Koovee (13G|24A) in the Finnish Mestis until the end of the season.
