For Villach, it was their third league game and the first time the newcomers faced an international opponent – and what a challenge it was: Aisulu Almaty, the reigning champions, had come to town. The visitors laid the foundation early, racing to a 3-0 lead within the first nine minutes. That score held until the third period, when the Kazakh side pulled away to 8-1 before Villach struck back. In the end, Aisulu celebrated an 8-3 triumph, further solidifying their lead. Mya Neugent and Katerina Wagner each contributed a pair of goals for Almaty.
