Rittner Buam – SG Cortina Hafro 2:4
After a break of 10 days, Rittner Buam challenged Cortina in the semifinals playoff. All the players were present for the Ritten. Nicola Fontanive (suspended) and Ronny De Zanna (injured) were absent in the guest formation. The Ritten played with four lines of attack, while the Cortina played with three lines of attack. The first period was balanced and Cortina seemed to continue the good momentum they had against the Pustertal in the quarter final. Luca Zandonella and his teammates played a good hockey also on a difficult ice like the one of Klobestein. After a couple of occasions for Riley Brace and Richard Lacedelli, the home team made the first goal of the evening with Christian Borgatello. But the shot of the captain of the home team was deflected involuntary from a defense man of the visitor team. At the end of the first period the Italian Champions went out for the first break with one goal of advantage. During the second period the Rittner Buam began to put pressure on the defense of the visitors but Cortina closed the space. Minute after minute the Drew Omicioli’s team remained lucid as they played with the right pace, so the balance came back on the ice. After 28 minutes Cortina played a superiority: Brace served a perfect puck for Edoardo Caletti that scored with a good shot. The Ritten tried to put more energy in offense but Marco De Filippo saved the result. After 40 minutes the game was in tie (1:1). During the third period the Cortina played better. The Ritten began to suffer the initiatives of the opponent, so that the Lehtonen’s boys were forced to do often icing. After the third icing pass, the Cortina scored the third goal with a touch of Alex Talamini. The home team reacted immediately: Markus Spinell surprised De Filippo as he scored the tie (2:2). The goalkeeper of the opponent saved at least two chances of Ebner and Markus Spinell. After the middle, Riley Brace made a personal action as he scored the new advantage for the guests. The Ritten couldn’t find the right pace in order to tie, also due to the good game of the visitors. When 27 seconds were missing at the end of the third period, Zandonella took 2’ of penalty. But Zachary Torquato scored the last goal of the game in the empty net. Cortina won 4:2 the first match of semifinal as they continued the positive period in the playoff of the AHL.

Supermercati Migross Asiago Hockey 1935 – HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice 5:1
There were many emotions from the first second of the game during the great challenge of the semifinal between Asiago and Jesenice. Kris Kolanos was sitting on the penalty bench after 8 seconds, but the home team scored immediately with a shot that hit the post and then entered in the net. The author of the goal was Colin Long in a shorthanded situation. All of this happened in the first 19 seconds of the game. Then the reaction of the Slovenians was expected, but the game was firmly in the hands of the Asiago. After a couple of good opportunities of Conci and Marchetti, Andreas Lutz doubled: the striker was alone in the slot of the Slovenians. Zan Us left a short rebound and Lutz was ready to score. The Asiago continued his great game. In the middle, there was another good situation for the hosts. Jesenice took two penalties. Kolanos with a strong diagonal shot scored the 3: 0  in double powerplay. Nik Zupancic called a timeout, and its goalkeeper Zan Us was changed. The net of Jesenice was then defended by Rok Stojanovic. In the rest of the period, the Asiago didin’t find other goals but remained always on the 3:0. Jesenice was dangerous after 16 'of the game in powerplay but the defense of Asiago was ready. During the second period the Asiago controlled the pace as they were very fast in the first minutes. There was a crossbar on each side: Magnabosco for Asiago and Ankerst for Jesenice. When a minute was missing before the end of the 2th period, Lutz and Scandella launched themselves towards the Slovenian net. Scandella scored into the wide open net for 4:0. During the third period, the game had nothing to offer. The Asiago managed the game quietly and there were scarce opportunities on both sides of the ice rink. Scandella scored again with a lucky assist/shot that overcame Stojanovic. Shortly after Jesenice finalized a fast action for the first goal of the evening with Cerkovnik. In the final time of the game the referees had a lot to do for roughing. The Asiago won for 5:1 as they took the lead in the series.
