After Asiago celebrated three home wins in a row, the Italians also got off to the better start in the clash with Graz. In the sixth minute, the Styrians could not keep the puck in the neutral zone and after a pass from Bryce Misley, Giordano Finoro provided the early lead. It was the 24-year-old forward's 24th goal of the season, which puts him in second place in the league scoring list behind Innsbruck's Adam Helewka.

In the tenth minute - shortly after Graz killed the first penalty - Michele Marchetti made it 2:0. In the middle period, the game was more balanced, but the home side had the better chances. First Troy Rutkowski (31st) scored after an ideal Castlunger assist, then Mark Simpson (39th) was right in the slot - 4:0. The 99ers did not give up and had better chances in the third period. In the 54th minute, their efforts were rewarded and Niklas Olausson - who recently returned to the Graz lineup after a two-week injury layoff - got the visitors on the scoreboard. With his second goal of the season, Jacob Pfeffer even cut the deficit to 2:4, but a comeback came to nothing. Because Allan McShane scored into the empty net for the 5:2 final score.
