Asiago appoints Giorgio De Bettin as head coach

After a tough run of eight consecutive defeats, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey has relieved Ron Fogarty of his duties as head coach. Taking over for the rest of the season is a familiar face: Giorgio De Bettin, a former Asiago player deeply connected to the club. During his playing career, De Bettin wore the Giallorossi jersey for seven seasons.

As a coach, De Bettin has an impressive resume. He recently led Cortina to the Italian championship title in 2022/23 and secured the Supercoppa Italiana in 2023. In addition to his club work, De Bettin is currently serving as an assistant coach for the Italian national team.

Giorgio De Bettin: "I’m happy to return to Asiago, a place filled with unforgettable memories for me. The focus now is on getting the team back on track with hard work. Actions speak louder than words."

Graz signs Nick Bailen

The Graz99ers have added a major piece to their roster with the signing of 35-year-old defenseman Nick Bailen. A multiple-time "Defenseman of the Year" and offensive standout, Bailen brings a wealth of experience, having played over 500 games in the KHL and DEL. His impressive career includes 78 goals and 255 points, cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s top blueliners.

The dual citizen of the USA and Belarus moved to Europe early in his career and most recently suited up for the Kölner Haie in the DEL.

Philipp Pinter, Sports Director of the Graz99ers:
"For us, Nick could be a real stroke of luck. At this time of year, you usually don’t get a player of his caliber. On one hand, he brings a wealth of high-quality experience to our defense. At the same time, he’s a very skilled offensive defenseman, and we have high expectations for him, especially on the power play."

Nick Bailen:
"Why did my family and I choose Graz? It’s simple: it’s a fantastic city, a professional club, with a motivated president, a motivated coach, and a team that’s focused on winning a championship. It’s exciting to be part of that. I hope to contribute in many ways. After all, winning a championship is the goal of every athlete, in every sport, and in every league."
