The runner-up of the Alps Hockey League Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey won the Italian Supercup 2020 and 2021 last weekend. At the same time, several teams were playing last scrimmages. With four duels left, the AHL preseason comes to an end ahead of the season start on September 11th.
Asiago wins Supercup twice
Within three days, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey has won the Italian Supercup twice. The reigning Italian champions first claimed this year's edition against Hockey Unterland Cavaliers with a 4:1 victory and on Saturday the cup for 2020, which could not be held due to COVID-19, too, as the Italians won 4:2 against HC Merano, with Marek Vankus scoring a hat trick.
Juniors and EC Peiting take one win each
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors tested twice against EC Peiting on the last weekend ahead of the start of the season. The first duel they lost 4:5 after shootout, the second they won 5:4 after overtime. Josef Eham scored the game-winner in the 61st minute of the extra session.
With the Steel Wings Linz and the EC-KAC Future Team two more Austrian teams played two preparation games within the last four days. In the direct duel, the Carinthians prevailed 5:4. Niklas Ofner and Markus Pirmann decided the game with two late goals. Linz lost 3:4 to the Vienna Capitals Silver, Klagenfurt also won 5:4 against EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and ends the preseason with four wins from six games.
League returnees EK Zell am See hit home ice for two games: the Salzburger side first lost to German Oberliga team Deggendorfer SC 3:4 and then also to Starbulls Rosenheimt (2:4). In addition to the long-term injured Christian Jennes and David Rattensberger, the "Eisbären" were also missing Philipp Kreuzer and Felix Zipperle due to illness.
Two AHL teams against TEV Miesbach
With BEMER VEU Feldkirch and the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan, two teams tested against TEV Miesbach this weekend. The Vorarlberg team was already 3:0 ahead against the Germans, but in the end brought home a 4:3 victory - three of the four goals were scored by young homegrown players. The South Tyroleans, on the other hand, suffered a 3:5 defeat, their second on the last test weekend, having previously lost 3:1 at HC Pustertal. Markus Gander scored the intermediate equalizer.
Ritten scores eight goals
The Rittner Buam concluded the "Rittner Hockey Tog" with an 8:3 victory against league rival HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. MacGregor Sharp scored twice. EC Bregenzerwald celebrates a 2:1 victory over Red Lions Reinach. Despite clear superiority only Philipp Metzler and Julian Zwerger managed to score.

Four test games are still on the schedule before the start of the Alps Hockey League season next Saturday, September 11. BEMER VEU Feldkirch and EC Bregenzerwald will test once again on home ice. Four other teams test league-internally.
