Attractive preseason weekend is over

An attractive preseason weekend in the Alps Hockey League is over. More than a dozen of scrimmages gave much more information about the upcoming season. The preseason continues next week with about ten games until Friday. AHL-Champion Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey has extended their contracts with a couple of key players in the meantime. HC Fassa Falcons welcomes Canadian defender Channing Bresciani.

Plenty of ice-time for the AHL-Teams

HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice has wo his preseason-opener on Friday. The Slovenian earned a 6:4-victory over Fehervari Titanok (HUN). FBI VEU Feldkirch in the meanwhile lost 1:2 against the Swiss NLB-club EHC Winterthur. The Austrians expect for the upcoming week another import player. 21-year old Tuomas Kinnunen is close to sign a tryout-contract at Feldkirch. HC Pustertal Wölfe has suffered a tough loss at their first scrimmage. The Italiens could not manage to score a goal and lost against the Bietigheim Stellers (GER) 0:5. Also EK Die Zeller Eisbären lost their opener by a shutout (0:4 against EC Bad Nauheim). EC “Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel were defeated twice: On Friday they lost 2:7 against Eisbären Regensburg (GER), on Sunday 1:2 against Starbulls Rosenheim (GER).

EC Bregenzerwald has defeated the Germans two days earlier. After a clear loss at their first scrimmage against EHC Bülach, the Austrians celebrated a 3:2 overtime-win. Red Bull Hockey Juniors are participating at the Junior World Cup in Sochi. They started the tournament with a walkover and won against the U20-Team of HC Davos (SUI) 9:1. EC-KAC II played two friendly games last weekend: They took a confident 6:1 win over EV Vienna Capitals II and lost 1:3 against the Hungarian Team Fehervari Titinok.

HC Gherdeina valgardena.it has won the only league-battle played this weekend. They celebrated a 2:1 win over HC Fassa Falcons. HK SZ Olimpija has triumphed at the 4-nations-tournament in Kapfenberg. After defeating the host on Thursday, they beat Seewen (SUI) 3:2 and Brasoc 7:6 after overtime. EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau has suffered a 2:3 loss against ESV Kaufbeuren on their third preseason game.

Ten preseason games until Friday

In the coming week the teams of the Alps Hockey League will play ten more friendly games. Red Bull Hockey Juniors will continue to compete at the Junior Club Wold Cup in Sochi with at least three more games to play. Sportivi Ghiaccio Cortina Hafro and EC-KAC II will play two more friendlys in the next few days. EC Bregenzerwald will face the Swiss Team EC Wil on Tuesday, EC “Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel will receive the chance for revenge against the Starbulls Rosenheim. Rittner Buam will open up their preseason with a friendly game against league-rival HC Gherdeina valgardena.it.

Channing Bresciani is a newcomer at HC Fassa Falcons

HC Fassa Falcons has strengthened his roster with another import player. They signed Canadian defender Channing Bresciani. The 25-year old played recently in Australia scoring 35 points (3G/32A) for CBA Brave.

Contract extensions in Asiago and Cortina

Reigning AHL-Champion Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey has extended their contracts with a couple of key players. Fabricio Pace (7G/22A in 54 games), Alex Gellert (13G/27A in 43 games) and Italian international Enrico Miglioranzi (6G/12A in 54 games) stay put. Also Simone Olivero (2G/3A in 50 games) will continue for the champ. Further Asiago has confirmed the Pietroniro brothers as well. Phil, the older one, scored 31 (7G/24A) points for the Italians in last season. During the playoffs the 24-year old scored nine times. 

Moreover AHL-rival S.G. Cortina Hafro has extended their contracts with the two youngsters David Faloppa and Tommaso Alvera, who played 48 AHL-games for the Italians so far.
