Austria has recorded its second victory at the World Championship in the Czech Republic. Roger Bader's team clearly beat Norway 4-1 and now have seven points with one game to go. The red-white-red team thus also keeps alive their historic chance of reaching the quarterfinals: Austria is in fourth place, but only have one game left to play compared to Finland, which are fifth on points.

The game against Norway was evenly matched for the entire first period a high-class duel at eye level. At times, Austria was lucky not to concede a goal while short-handed. In the second period, however, Peter Schneider and Co took command, as the he Salzburg forward took advantage of Austria's third power play in the 29th minute to take the lead, which Dominic Zwerger – somewhat fortunately – doubled just 40 seconds later. Schneider then scored his brace to give his team a 3-0 lead.

At the end of the second and beginning of the third period, Austria had to survive a double short-handed situation - which they did, but then conceded their first goal seven minutes before the end. A one-timer from the high slot hit the far corner. David Kickert, who had been in command until then, had no chance. Austria then withstood the final pressure and Mario Huber decided the game early with an empty-netter.
