Austria, Slovakia and Hungary play for one Olympic ticket in Bremerhaven

The Austrian women's national team will be fighting for an Olympic ticket in Bremerhaven (GER) from Thursday to Sunday. In addition to the hosts from Germany, the ÖEHV team will face Hungary and Slovakia. While numerous players from the win2day Austrian Women's Hockey League are represented in the Austrian team, Hungary and Slovakia have many players from the European Women's Hockey League in their line-up.

Germany, A-nation and with the home advantage, Hungary, promoted to the top division and Slovakia, returning to Division IA, are the opponents in the battle for the only Olympic ticket to be awarded in this group for Austria. Austria has never before been represented at the Winter Olympics by the women's team. Just over three years ago, in the qualifiers for the 2022 Olympic Games, they also faced Germany in the opener and won 3:0. After the opener against Germany, they have a one-day break before facing Hungary on Saturday at 18:00 and Slovakia on Sunday at 14:30.

A total of twelve players from the squad are currently playing in the win2day Austrian Women's Hockey League. League leaders Sabres St. Pölten have the largest amunt with seven players, followed by the DEC Salzburg Eagles with two players and the Lakers Carinthia, the Graz99ers Huskies and the KSV Highlanders with one player each.

Austria's opponents, Slovakia and Hungary, feature many familiar faces from the European Women's Hockey League in their squads, with 13 players on the Slovak team and seven on the Hungarian roster.
