Both teams started carefully into the first game after the International break. Then it was EC-KAC, that put the first exclamation mark, but after a good shot from Matt Neal the puck missed barely the net of Medvescak-goalie Kevin Poulin. Klagenfurt had more from the game in period 1, but really good chances were missing on both sides. After the re-start the Bears took the lead: A shot from Samson Mahbod missed the net, but the puck bounced back to Tyler Morley, who scored. KAC stayed unimpressed and answered just four minutes later: Seconds after a Power Play Manuel Ganahl scored from a rebound after a blueliner from Kevin Kapstad – 1:1. The Red Jackets then turned around the game: After a blueliner from Martin Schumnig it was Thomas Koch, who made it 2:1 from another rebound. Late in the second period the Croatians were in Power Play, but missed to take advantage. Period 3 started perfect for EC-KAC, after just seven seconds Thomas Hundertpfund scored shorthanded from a rebound -3:1. Klagenfurt was the chief on the ice in period 3 and added another goal from Koch.
