The fifth and second last round of the Champions Hockey League is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. All three teams of the win2day ICE Hockey League are in action away from home. While EC Red Bull Salzburg and Hydro Fehérvár AV19 play in Sweden, the EC-KAC have to face the reigning CHL champion Genève-Servette.

Moreover, Olimpija Ljubljana were active on the transfer market. The Slovenians responded to the absence of Kale Kerbashian due to injury by signing 35-year-old Rudolf Červený to a two-month contract.

EC Red Bull Salzburg will face the Växjö Lakers (SWE) in the Champions Hockey League on Tuesday. With eight points after four games, the Red Bulls are in a very good sixth place in the table and are therefore well on their way to the Round of 16. The 17th-placed team, which would be the first to miss out on the Round of 16, currently has five points. The Växjö Lakers from the Swedish SHL are third in the table with ten points. They were only beaten in overtime by Sheffield. Salzburg has so far finished one of their four CHL games without a point. In the domestic leagues, both teams are in fourth (RBS) and seventh (Vaxjo) place. Salzburg and Växjö have already faced each other four times in the Champions Hockey League, most recently in 2018, with both teams celebrating two wins each.

Hydro Fehérvár AV19 is also in action on Tuesday. The Hungarians are still waiting for their first win in the Champions Hockey League. On Tuesday, they play at Skellefteå AIK (SWE), who are in twelfth place with seven points. Skellefteå are second in the Swedish SHL after seven games, while Fehérvár are sixth in the win2day ICE Hockey League. For AIK, the team from Székesfehérvár is the second opponent from the ICE. They opened their campaign in Salzburg and narrowly won 4:3.

Runner-up EC-KAC are the only team in the win2day ICE Hockey League to play on Wednesday. The team from Klagenfurt will play at the reigning Champions Hockey League champion Genève-Servette (SUI), who are only in 14th place in the current CHL season. The EC-KAC is 19th with three points and urgently needs a win to keep its chances of reaching the Round of 16 alive. In the current CHL season, the KAC celebrated an opening win, but were then beaten three times in a row. In the ICE Hockey League, Klagenfurt started the campaign with four wins and four defeats and is fifth in the table. Geneva are in ninth place in the Swiss National League.

Olimpija signs new forward
Olimpija Ljubljana has strengthened its ranks with the addition of Czech forward Rudolf Červený. The 35-year-old has signed a contract with the “Dragons” for the months of October and November, with the possibility of an extension. The transfer was necessary because forward Kale Kerbashian will miss the coming weeks due to an injury. Rudolf Červený played for Barys Astana in the KHL last season, and the forward has also played in Russia, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and his native Czech Republic. In his youth, the left winger even spent two seasons in Canada.
