On Sunday, the first phase of the regular season of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League will be completed. While all places in the top five have already been secured, there will be long-distance duels for places seven to nine in the lower half of the standings. The iClinic Bratislava Capitals have the best chances to get the six bonus points for the Qualification Round and they are in control of their ranking. Seventh place can only be disputed by the Moser Medical Graz99ers, who could also fall back to ninth place. The beneficiary of this would be HC TIWAG Innsbruck, who still have a last chance to reach eighth place.

  • For EC Red Bull Salzburg it has been clear for some time that they will finish the first phase of the basic round in fifth place and thus start the pick round without bonus points.
  • The Moser Medical Graz99ers still have the biggest possible range of all teams concerning their ranking after the first phase of the regular season. Between seventh place (6 bonus points) and ninth place (two bonus points) everything is still possible for the Styrians:
    • In order to still conquer the seventh place, the Grazers would have to win by at least one point more than the iClinic Bratislava Capitals.
    • If the Graz team manages to conquer at least one point, but not more points than Bratislava, the Styrians will finish the regular season phase 1 on the eighth place.
    • If the Graz team does not manage to win a point, the Styrians will have to rely on either a point loss by HCI or a defeat by the iClinic Bratislava Capitals in regulation time in order not to fall back to ninth place.
  • In the first meeting of these two teams, Graz suffered their highest defeat of the season so far with 2:10. For the Salzburgers, this was also their highest win of the season.
  • The 99ers recently suffered two defeats in a row. On Friday they even lost 1:7 against Dornbirn.
  • Salzburg celebrated a victory against the Bratislava Capitals after two defeats in a row. Lucas Thaler promptly scored his first goal in his debut this season.
