Moser Medical Graz99ers – Hydro Fehérvár AV19

Friday, September 25th | 7.15 pm
Referees: GRUBER, OFNER, Gatol, Riecken.

  • The two teams have already played 70 games against each other. Of the last 10 games the road team could only win three. (All statistics are recorded and kept since the league was founded at the beginning of the 2000/01 season.)
  • G99 has not recorded a win in the entire preseason. They lost all six games in the preparation, reaching OT twice (vs. BWI and VIC). AVS, which only had half as many scrimmages, remained unbeaten in the preseason.
  • G99 recently signed Michael Rasmussen of NHL Club Detroit Red Wings. The center is not yet in Austria and cannot yet be used on the first ICE weekend.
  • Among the Styrians, the convalescent Daniel Oberkofler is probably still missing until mid/end of November.
  • On Friday, four players will not be available for Hydro Fehérvár AV19 because they are not on the "Fit-to-play" list, which is mandatory for this season due to the Covid-19 situation.

HC TWK Innsbruck “Die Haie“ – Dornbirn Bulldogs
Friday, September 25th | 7.15 pm
Referees: BERNEKER, ROHATSCH, Martin, Tschrepitsch.

  • As in the last two seasons, the 20/21 campaign will open with a West Derby in Innsbruck. In 2018 and 2019, the Dornbirn Bulldogs have won after overtime. The Bulldogs also won the first round duel 2012 too after the extra session.
  • The two teams will be playing their 43rd duel against each other, Dornbirn has won 22 of them.
  • Both teams have opened their preseason against each other: The HCI won 6:2 at home and the preparation was much more successful for the HCI with three wins out of four games. DEC only won the last preseason game against EC Bregenzerwald, but lost two games before that.
  • DEC Defender Kevin Tansey will be out for several weeks, due to a hand injury. Tansey is the second Sharks defender, after Lukas Bär, who has been injured for a long time, who has to pass at the start of the league.
  • Both teams have made a big change in the squad ahead of the season.

EC Red Bull Salzburg – EC GRAND Immo VSV
Friday, September 25th | 7.15 pm | LIVE on Sky Sport Austria 1HD
Referees: SIEGEL, SMETANA, Kontschieder, Seewald.

  • The game between EC Red Bull Salzburg and EC GRAND Immo VSV on the opening day is one of two quarter-final remakes. In the 2020 playoffs, the Salzburgers led 2:1 before the season was abandoned.
  • The two teams met twice in the preseason. RBS won both 2:1 and both teams played a total of six preparation games each. Salzburg balanced, Villach only suffered one defeat.
  • 119 games have been played between the two teams so far, RBS has won 71 of them.
  • Of the last 20 games against RBS, VSV has only won five.
  • Since the 2008/09 season, RBS has started the season with a home game five times - all games were lost. The last home win in a first round was celebrated in 2007 with a 5:1 victory over VSV.
  • The VSV will play in Salzburg with the complete squad. Salzburg is missing goalkeeper Lukas Herzog, who will probably be absent for the entire season.

EC-KAC – Black Wings 1992
Friday, September 25th | 7.15 pm | LIVE auf PULS 24
Referees: PIRAGIC, ZRNIC, Miklic, Zgonc.

  • The duel between the EC-KAC and the Black Wings in 1992 is the second remake of the playoffs that were cancelled in the previous season. At that time the Upper Austrians were ahead 3:0 in the quarter final series.
  • The EC-KAC ended the preseason with the victory at the Red Bulls Salute. In this tournament Klagenfurt only conceded one goal. In a total of six preseason games, the KAC was only beaten once (3:7 @VIC). Linz balanced (2/2).
  • BWI won 75 of the 135 games against Klagenfurt. Linz also won the last five games against Klagenfurt.
  • The EC-KAC will have to do without the injured David Fischer at the start of the season, and David Madlener will also not be part of the squad. The use of the slightly ill Thomas Hundertpfund is also questionable.
  • Andrew Kozek, who returned to Linz this summer, will meet his former club right at the start of the new season. The striker scored 60 goals for the KAC.
