Ben Betker was drafted in the sixth round by the Edmonton Oilers in 2013, then played exclusively in the WHL, American Hockey League and ECHL. The defenseman finally ventured to Europe in December 2018, signing with HC Detva in Slovakia. Betker then spent two seasons under contract with HKM Zvolen and was crowned Slovakian champion in 2021 before the left-shooter moved to Innsbruck. The 27-year-old made 49 appearances for the Sharks, scoring 13 points.

Now Betker is looking forward to his next challenge: "I'm really looking forward to the new season, because playing in Fehérvár has always been a special experience for me as an opponent - even though I'll probably enjoy it even more now that I'm on the 'right' side. I've already experienced what it feels like to win a championship, and I want to continue this winning streak with Hydro Fehérvár AV19."
