Big win for Kitzbühel, Bregenzerwald steals point of Pustertal

EC Kitzbühel celebrated a big win against HK SŽ Olimpija. The EC Bregenzerwald managed to steal a point from HC Pustertal as first team, but the wolves continue their winning streak, after a successful shoot out.

The EC „Die Adler“ Kitzbühel celebrated a big win in Ljubljana. Both teams created a couple of chances in the first period. Tyler Rimmer made a good job in keeping his sheets clean. Ljubljana granted the guests too much powerplays. In the third powerplay of Kitzbühel Marthinsen striked for the first time this evening. In the second period Kitzbühel started with a quick goal of Adam Havlik. Kitzbühel kept their effectiveness and Peter Lenes scored the 3:0 three minutes later. Ljubljana started a run on the goal of Kitzbühel – without success. Ljubljana shot 22 time this period onto the goal. Rimmer made an outstanding job and kept the zero. The storm of Ljubljana continued in the third period. Kitzbühel focused on the defending. It needed 57 minutes and 50 shots till Rimmer was beaten for the first time. Music ended the goalless time and striked twice 80 seconds. But for the equalizer it was already too late and Kitzbühel celebrated a 3:2 win in Ljubljana.

Bregenzerwald started with a lot of self-confidence into the game and delivered the top team of the league a duel on one eye level. The hosts took three penalties in the first period, but did a good job in penalty killing. Both teams created a couple of good chances in the first, but the goalies kept their sheets clean in the first period. In the middle of the second period Simeon Schwinger captured the lead for Bregenzerwald and brought the wolves in an unfamiliar position. But only two minutes later Grossgasteiger had the right answer and tied the game. Pustertal had a bit more from the game in the following, but the hosts counteracted on an impressive way. No more team could score anymore in the regular time. Pustertal had to go in overtime for the first time this season. Also in the extra time the game was on an even level and especially both defensive formations made a good job. Finally Pustertal found the decision in penalty shootout. Armin Hofer converted the decisive penalty and continued the winning streak for his game. Bregenzerwald is the first team, who managed to steal a point from the wolves.
