After a scoreless first period, in which Umicevic could not convert a penalty shot, the score was finally broken in the 33rd minute when Altman found Woger alone in the offensive zone and he sent the puck behind Rosandic's back with ease. About a half a minute later D'Aversa received the puck in the slot and with a powerful wrister doubled the lead for the visiting Black Wings. Before the break Lemtyugov cut the visiting team's lead in half. In the final period Black Wings finished off what they started in second: in matter of two minutes Schofield and Freuenschlag made it 1:4, Mauldin cut it again in half three minutes before the end but Altman scored and empty netter to mark the final score 2:5.
