Since 2016, the Swiss-born defenseman with an Austrian passport has been going through the junior teams in the steel city. After taking his first steps in Upper Austria for the U18 & U20, Liesch made his debut in the Linz farm team in 2019/2020, making 43 appearances for the Steel Wings in the Alps Hockey League.

In the following season, the 20-year-old got his first taste of the top division - he made seven appearances for the Steinbach Black Wings team in the win2day ICE Hockey League in the preseason. With another 41 games (1 goal, 11 assists) under Head Coach Philipp Lukas, Liesch also played a major role in the Steel Wings' first-ever qualification for the Alps Hockey League Pre-Play-Offs last season.

Head Coach Philipp Lukas: "Laurin has shown a remarkable development last year on and off the ice and proved with his appearances in the ICE Hockey League that he is ready for the next step. He will continue to gain important experience and grow as a personality and player in the upcoming season. I am happy that we will continue to have him in the organization."

Laurin Liesch: "I am overjoyed and very much looking forward to continuing to work together. I will continue to work hard on myself, give full throttle and try to improve every day to push myself for as many appearances in the Black Wings Jersey as possible."
