Both Linz and KAC were full of confidence ahead of Sunday's duel, with both teams winning their last four games. The visitors from Carinthia set the first offensive accents, but Linz defended skilfully and proved to be very efficient themselves: After another period of pressure by the visitors, Emilio Romig (10th) scored on the counterattack to take the lead. Only 40 seconds after Paul Postma's equaliser, Jakob Mitsch scored to make it 2:1, it was his first goal in the win2day ICE Hockey League. The Upper Austrians were thus ahead after 20 minutes, contrary to the course of the game. Shortly after the restart, Graham Knott even increased the lead to 3:1, but Thomas Hundertpfund pulled one back soo later. The KAC forward beat Linz goalie Thomas Höneckl in a 1-on-0 situation. In the final period, the Klagenfurters equalised through Steven Strong. However, the momentum changed sides again when Stefan Gaffal made it 4:3 in the 54th minute after an ideal Haga pass. The Carinthians tried everything in the final phase, replaced Dahm with a sixth skater - and 25 seconds before the end Knott scored an empty netter for the 5:3 final score.

Bolzano defend their lead with a derby win
HCB Südtirol Alperia played the first derby game of the season at HC Pustertal in the Intercable Arena, which was sold out for the first time. The last team in the table took the lead after ten minutes through Morten Jensen. But the answer of the leaders was not long in coming, Dustin Gazley (13./PP) scored after McClure's assist. A short time later, the Bolzano team turned the game in their favour with a goal that was well worth seeing. Brad McClure completed a "tic-tac-toe" combination to give the visitors the lead. In the middle period, HCB took the two-goal lead for the first time, after an ideal Culkin pass Luca Frigo (28th) stormed alone on goal and gave Pustertal goalie Sholl no chance. It got even worse for the home side when Christian Thomas made it 1:4. In the final period, however, Pustertal showed morale and after goals by Olivier Archambault and Raphael Andergassen it became really exciting again. In the last minutes, the guests defended skilfully around goalie Sam Harvey, Mike Halmo finally managed the decision with an empty-net goal. After losing out in three league derbies, Bolzano celebrated a prestigious victory again and defended their lead in the standings.
