The Swedish powerhouse Luleå Hockey, on the other hand, secured their ticket to the Round of 16 with the victory. Eetu Koivistoinen opened the scoring for the hosts in the 19th minute and doubled the lead in the 36th. Just two minutes later, Matt Bradley put Bolzano on the board with a power-play goal. The score remained 2–1 until 97 seconds before the end of the third period, when Cole Schneider equalized for Bolzano with an extra attacker on the ice after goaltender Sam Harvey had left the net. In overtime, however, it took only 14 seconds for the home team to clinch the extra point and shatter Bolzano’s hopes of advancing to the Round of 16.

On Wednesday, two other win2day ICE Hockey League teams are still in action: EC Red Bull Salzburg and EC-KAC. Both sides need points to secure a place in the knockout stage. While the Red Bulls host the Eisbären Berlin, KAC will face KalPa Kuopio on the road.
