Dustin Gazley returned to the HCB line-up after two and a half weeks off due to injury. However, the Klagenfurt team got off to the better start and was able to set a few good offensive accents right from the start. But there were no real big chances for a long time. In the course of the first period, Bolzano came up more and more and had the best chance through Brett Findlay - but he failed to score against Sebastian Dahm. In the middle period, the KAC goalkeeper also stopped Robertson. In addition, Alberga and Pitschieler were also unable to score. The hosts were unlucky with a shot at the post. After that, a lively back-and-forth developed, with the KAC having the chance for the lead on a late power play, but Leland Irving kept it 0:0 after 40 minutes.

The final period continued in the same way. While Stefano Giliati missed a top chance for the home side, Manuel Ganahl just struck metalwork on the other side. On power play, the visitors then had a few top-class opportunities, but the puck did not want to go into the net even in this period of pressure. Finally, it took almost 48 minutes until HCB forward Daniel Frank opened the scoring - he went alone on Dahm and the puck rolled between the pads over the line. It was also the latest 1:0 ever scored in a final series. The KAC did not find an answer that evening, a late penalty against Thomas Hundertpfund finally put an end to their hopes. On the powerplay, Domenico Alberga scored for a final 2:0, with goalie Leland Irving recording his first shutout of the current playoffs. HCB reduced the score to 1:2 in the "best-of-7" series, the fourth game will take place on Sunday in Klagenfurt.
