Bolzano adds shutout win and remains unbeaten
HCB Südtirol Alperia remained unbeaten after the opening weekend in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. After the narrow victory in the opener against HC Orli Znojmo, the "Foxes" followed up with a 3-0 win at EC Red Bull Salzburg and are tied on points with unbeaten teams from Klagenfurt and Fehervar in third place. Bolzano took advantage of the very first power play to take the lead: Matt Maione fired from the blue line and Mike Halmo (6./PP1) successfully deflected. Then a Salzburg goal by Charles Lo Verde was disallowed for goalie interference. Justin Fazio, who was Kevin Boyle's back-up on Friday, kept the visitors in the game until late in the final period - and they then took advantage of another power play to take a 2-0 lead through Dustin Gazley (55./PP1). Soon later he scored his second on empty net. For Fazio it was the second shutout in his ICE career (24 games) with 28 saves.

Villach with shutout win too
EC Grand Immo VSV also celebrated a shutout victory on Sunday, recording its first win of the season with a 2-0 home win over Steinbach Black Wings Linz. The Upper Austrians remained scoreless in their second game 21/22 too. Villach found themselves with a double-overtime advantage early in this game - and Scott Kosmachuk, Carinthians' top scorer of last year, provided the early lead. Against decimated Linz, goalie Andreas Bernard kept his sheet clean until the end. The decisive goal was scored by Benjamin Lanzinger shortly before the last break - and again on powerplay - for the 2:0 final score.

Newcomer and comebacker celebrate first win of the season
HK SZ Olimpija and HC Orli Znojmo each celebrated their first win of the season in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. The Slovenians won 5-2 at home against the Moser Medical Graz99ers. Guillaume Leclerc gave the "Dragons" the early lead with the first scoring chance after 85 seconds. After the Styrians equalized right after the start of the third period through Ken Ograjensek (41.), a double strike by the home team within less than two minutes was decisive: Again Leclerc (48.) and Tadej Cimzar (50.) scored for the home team.

The Czech returnee gave the second defeat of the season on the spusu Vienna Capitals, turning a two-goal deficit at home after the first period into a 5:4 home victory. Anthony Luciani scored twice, Radim Matus the game-winner with eight minutes left.
