On January 24th in Bozen, a slashing incident occurred involving Bratislava player #77 Milos Bubela on Bozen player #55 Benjamin Youds. A minor penalty was assessed by the on-ice officials.

As the video shows, #77 Bubela dumped the puck in as he approached the attacking blue line. BOZ player #55 Youds, as a D'Man stays with Bubela after the dump in and runs an interference play, in which Youds received a 2 minute minor penalty for. As a retaliation to the interference, Bubela reacted with a forceful slash.

The reason for supplementary discipline is the slash Bubela delivered was forceful and directed at the back of the leg of Youds, which is an unprotected area. The slash is considered illegal and due to the big wind up, force and directed at a vulnerable body part, which is why the PSC deemed the slash worthy of supplementary discipline. The PSC took into consideration that the interference that Youds delivered was with a horizontal stick in the mid section, but is deemed nothing more than warranting a 2 minute minor penalty. The interference was not deemed a probable cause for Bubela to retaliate in a forceful manner with the stick as the enforcing measure.
