The Salzburg side is in sixth place after five rounds and already has wins against the KAC Future Team, the Rittner Buam and EHC Lustenau to their name. On Sunday, however, head coach Martin Ekrt's team lost 4:2 in the top clash against Jesenice. Bregenzerwald started the new season with a defeat, but managed to win three of their last four games. The Vorarlberg team, coached by Markus Juurikkala, is currently in ninth place. The two teams have already faced each other ten times in the AHL, Zell am See has seven wins. The Salzburgers' special teams have worked very well so far, as Zell am See is second in the league in both power play and shorthanded statistics.

Absences on both sides
The hosts have to do without Felix Beck, Leon Peischler, Kai Hämmerle and Benjamin Winkler due to injury. Felix Zipperle's participation is still a question mark. Zell am See will have to do without the injured Tobias Dinhopel, Benedikt Wohlfahrt and Bastian Szieber. Laurin Müller, who is suspended, is also missing.
