With two goals in Steinbach Black Wings Linz's 4:1 home win against the HC Pustertal, Brian Lebler became the sole top goalscorer in the league. The 35-year-old has 361 goals and is thus two goals ahead of Thomas Koch, who ended his career in the summer. The Black Wings moved up to second place in the win2day ICE Hockey League table, overtaking Hydro Fehérvár AV19. The Hungarians conceded a clear 1:7 home defeat against the EC-KAC. HCB Südtirol Alperia celebrated their eighth win in a row. The Foxes won against the EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV with 5:4/OT. Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, the HK SZ Olimpija and the Moser Medical Graz99ers celebrated away victories after overtime and shootout respectively.
The 21st round of the win2day ICE Hockey League was a very special one for Brian Lebler. His goal to make it 2:0 against the HC Pustertal was the 35-year-old's 360th goal in the league. The forward thus passed Thomas Koch and is now the sole record holder. Lebler also scored against the sixth-placed team from South Tyrol to make it 3:1. It was the third win in the last five games for the Black Wings, which saw the Upper Austrians climb to the second place in the table. The gap to leader Salzburg is three points. Pustertal, who suffered their fourth defeat in the last five games, are sixth, just one point ahead of local rivals HCB Südtirol Alperia.
Bolzano with eighth win in a row
Last seasons runner-up continued their successful run against the EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV. In a high-scoring game, the Foxes celebrated with 5:4 after overtime. It was their eighth win in a row. However, the home side trailed 1:2 and 2:3 against Villach. However, Dustin Gazley and Daniel Mantenuto were able to turn the game around in the 49th and 53rd minute. However, the VSV managed to equalize two and a half minutes before the end in the form of Robert Sabolic. In overtime, Joshua Teves scored the game-winner for the HCB. The Eagles slipped back to fourth place in the table, but have the same number of points as the second and third-placed teams.
KAC with a furious away win
The second Carinthian team, EC-KAC, was also in action away from home. Goalkeeper Sebastian Dahm stood between the posts for the first time since September 22. And the Dane was in top form again. In the clear 7:1 away win at third-placed Hydro Fehérvár AV19, Dahm conceded just one goal and had a save percentage of 95.2%. The KAC is still in fifth place in the table, but is only two points behind second to fourth place, who all have 38 points. On the KAC side, both Fabian Hochegger and Raphael Herburger scored a brace.
OT and SO away wins for Asiago, Olimpija and Graz respectively
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey won 5:4 after overtime at the spusu Vienna Capitals and thus celebrated their first away win since January 22. They were also victorious at the STEFFL Arena in Vienna back then. This time, the Italians were already 3:0 ahead with 15 minutes to go. However, the home side did not give up and even managed to equalize before the visitors took the lead again. However, Rok Ticar equalized again for the Viennese. In overtime, it was finally Michele Marchetti who gave Asiago a deserved away win. Both teams remain outside the pre-playoff places in the table as eleventh (ASH) and twelfth (VIC).
The HK SZ Olimpija currently has the last pre-playoff spot. The Slovenians won 3:2/SO at the HC TIWAG Innsbruck. The Dragons have a four-point lead over Asiago and are already seven points ahead of Vienna. Innsbruck is in eighth place with 27 points. For the Sharks, it was their fourth defeat in the last five games in the ICE. The Moser Medical Graz99ers celebrated their first win after two defeats in a row. The team at the bottom of the table beat the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg 2:1/OT. Ken Ograjensek scored the game-winner 32 seconds before the end of overtime. Steven Owre had previously tied the game for the Pioneers just five seconds before the end of the third period. The 99ers are still 14 points behind the tenth place in the table. The Pioneers are ninth and five points ahead of the eleventh place.
