Ferencváros traveled to Feldkirch with plenty of confidence, having earned a 3–1 win in Innsbruck on Friday. The Pioneers, meanwhile, were coming off a tough 1–7 defeat in Bolzano the night before.

Despite scoring chances on both sides, the first period ended without goals. Early in the second, Budapest took control of the game, spending long stretches in the offensive zone. However, Pioneers goaltender Alex Caffi – and once even the post – kept the visitors off the scoreboard. As the middle frame went on, the hosts found their rhythm and pushed for the lead, but FTC netminder Kristóf Nagy delivered several key saves. The score remained 0–0 after forty minutes.

Early in the third period, Milan Horváth broke the deadlock with a shot into the far corner. Just 39 seconds later, Ferenc Laskawy doubled the lead after a well-executed passing play – Caffi got a piece of it, but the puck still crossed the line. The Pioneers refused to give up and cut the deficit to 1–2 in the 53rd minute during a power play, as Nathan Burke scored with another penalty signaled. The home team pressed hard for the equalizer but couldn’t capitalize on their chances. In the final minute, István Sofron sealed the 3–1 win with an empty-net goal.
