Capitals announce basic squad | Olimpija signs Bičevskis

The spusu Vienna Capitals announced the basic squad for the 2023/24 season. A total of twelve local players and Canadian James Sheppard will continue to play for the Viennese team in the coming season. In addition, HK SZ Olimpija signed Latvian Māris Bičevskis. The 31-year-old former national team player played in the KHL with Dinamo Riga between 2011 and 2018. The past three seasons, the center was active with BK Mladá Boleslav in the Czech Republic. On the other hand, the HC TIWAG Innsbruck announced six departures. In addition to goalie Tom McCollum, Adam Helewka, among others, will no longer play for the Sharks in the coming season.

Niki Hartl, Lukas Kainz, Lorenz and Leon Widhalm, Patrick Antal, Armin Preiser, Bernhard Posch, Mathias Böhm, Niklas Würschl, Nico Brunner, Timo Pallierer, Dominic Hackl and James Sheppard will continue to play for the Viennese next season.

Olimpija signs Māris Bičevskis
HK SZ Olimpija has strengthened its squad with Latvian Māris Bičevskis. The 31-year-old has been active exclusively in his homeland and in the Czech Republic. In the past three seasons, the center played for BK Mladá Boleslav (41 points). With his hometown club Dinamo Riga, the former national team player played in the KHL between 2011 and 2018.

Innsbruck parts away with numerous key players
The HC TIWAG Innsbruck was the surprise this season. Now the Tyroleans, who qualified for the Champions Hockey League for the first time, announced the departure of six key players. Goaltender Tom McCollum, Tyler Cuma, Tyler Coulter, Simon Bourque, Adam Helewka and Jamal Watson will no longer play for the Sharks in the coming season.
