Rob Daum gets 234th EBEL win at Volksgarten
Linz got off a better start but Salzburg made the breakthrough after nine minutes with Thomas Raffl finding the back of the net. Now the host became better but could not extend their lead. Because of ice problems, the opening period was finished two minutes earlier and added after the intermission. Here John Hughes had the best chance but with no goals in this period, sides were changed at 1:0 Salzburg. After a bad mistake in the Red Bulls defense, Sebastien Piche scored the equalizer. Soon later Dorion and McLean missed some good chances while a Rauchenwald goal was disallowed at the other end because of an high stick. Two minutes before the second intermission Joel Broda took the lead for Linz on power play. The third period was a mere 41 seconds old when Brian Lebler doubled the Black Wings' lead but Salzburg's anwer followed promptly. Only 46 seconds later Ryan Duncan made it a one-goal game again. With five minutes to go Raffl added his second of the night to tie it at three. This time Linz hit back quickly with Dan DaSilva going top shelf. The Red Bulls tried everything but were not able score a fourth. As a result they dropped to second place while Rob Daum celebrated his 234th career win in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga.

Olimpija gets first QR win at Szekesfehervar
The game started better for Fehervar AV19. The Devils were very dangerous in front of Frazee’s net. Vincze scored after a rebound already in the third minute. The fast goal made the Dragons fight harder, Uduc tied the game two minutes later. In the middle of the period, Owens fouled and Ljubljana attacked five on four, but Fehervar was solid in the defense and the game went on in front of the Slovenian net. Already five on five, Sarauer missed a breakaway. On the other side the guests scored: Pesut passed to Music in front of the net, who didn’t miss. 3 minutes left in the period, Pesut was put in the penalty box and Sarauer almost scored, but he only hit the post. Just before the end of the period, Fehervar tied the game, Manavian’s blueliner went behind Frazee. The second period started just as the first, but this time Frazee saved all the shots. In the third minute Uduc could have got his team in the lead, but the post saved the Hungarians from the goal. The next minutes went on in front of the guests’ net, Vas, Kóger and Sárpátki threatened. In the 28th minute Attila Orban and Bussieres got into a huge fight with the Hungarian defenseman winning, however, both players got a 5-minute penalty. Before the fight, Pesut fouled, that is why the game went on with a Fehervar powerplay. Sofron played well in this powerplay, he shot and Erdely put the rebound in the net. Two minutes later, Pesut levelled the score after a great pass from Music. In the second half of the period, Fehervar controlled the game, first in powerplay, then five on five. Brance Orban pass from behind the net to Sagert, whose shot was saved by Frazee. Two minutes before the buzzer, and right before the end, Sofron missed two dangerous shots. The first minutes of the third period, the guests were more active, but Fehervar defended well. In the 46th minute, Sárpátki threatened but Maylan was just a second behind for the rebound. In the next minutes, Fehervar controlled the game and in the middle of the period, Sárpátki tried to score again, without success. The last ten minutes began with a shot from Gabor but Rajna saved.  Two minutes later, Gabor missed a breakaway and Sziranyi fouled but the guests didn’t score on the powerplay either. Four minutes left in the regular time, Manavian shot from the blue line, then Koger’s shot was blocked by the defense. Finally, Schiestel missed and Erdely’s chance was the last in the game. In the overtime, the home team controlled the puck more but Frazee saved both Manavian and Maylan’s shots, 30 seconds later Sarauer shot over the net. Erdely could have decided the game twice but he didn’t manage to put the puck in the net and Sofron was unsuccessful either. Two minutes left in the overtime, Erdely had to sit in the penalty box but Ljubljana didn’t score and the game went into penalty shots. There Zajc and Koger both missed in the first round, Music scored but Beauregard’s shot was saved by Frazee and at the end, Pesut’s penalty decided for the guests.

Caps returned to the top
It took some time, but finally in minute 9 the UPC Vienna Capitals treatened for the first time with chances from Nödl and Holzapfel. In minute 15 the Caps then took the lead: Rafael Rotter was successful from the slot after a great pass from Taylor Vause. The Caps continued to make pressure and were rewarded with the 2:0 17 seconds before the first break: Bozens defenseman Mikko Luoma tried to stop the puck, but unlucky he send it into the own net. After the re-start the Caps were the chiefs on the ice, but there were not much scoring-chances. Late in the period the Austrians added two more goals: First Holzapfel scored from the slot in a Power Play and just 56 second later Vause was successful with a turn-around - 4:0. Early in period three Tyler Cuma even added the 5:0. The Foxes did not quit, produced some scoring-chances and finally got one goal from Jesse Root in the last seconds of the game. With this win the Caps returned on place 1 in the Pick Round, Bozen is still without a win after round 3.

99ers beat also Znojmo
Both teams fought hard in period 1. The Moser Medical Graz99ers were dangerous especially in Power Play: Daniel Woger threatened in minute 5 with a volley shot from a short distance and Ken Ograjensek (15.) after a fast attack. In minute 23 the Styrians finally scored the lead: After a shot from Evan Brophey in a Power Play Kyle Beach was successful from the rebound. The 99ers continued to make pressure and quickly added the 2:0 from Thomas Pöck, who scored from his own rebound! Now HC Orli Znojmo, that tried their luck in period one from counter attacks, did answer with a more offensive play. But all their chances were stopped by 99ers-goalie Sebastian Dahm. Besides the Mur Citizens stayed more dangerous. Early in period 3 Kurtis McLean could have decided the game already with a solo from the blue line, but he failed to score. On the other side Colton Yellow Horn made the 1:2 from a short distance. The Czechs now fired from everywhere, but twice just hit the post. Graz did not show much offense anymore, but one attack finished Oliver Setzinger after a great pass from Zusevics-Pass backhand from a sharp angel into the upper corner for the final 3:1. The Styrians won also their third game and stayed Leader in the Qualification Round.

Innsbruck earns first points in Pick Round
As it happened in the last few games often, Innsbruck conceded an early goal against Klagenfurt when Jamie Lundmark opened the scoring after only 37 seconds. The visitors had the better of the play and pressed for another goal but netminder Andy Chiodo did well. After 16 minutes Austin Smith tied the game against the course of the match for a 1:1 score after the first. In the middle frame the sharks shifted up a gear and it was an even-balanced match right now. There were just a few chances on both sides with Thomas Koch missing the best in front of Chiodo. Late in the period youngster Mario Huber lit the lamp after a great solo attempt to turn the game around. It was an up and down game in the third with Nick Ross failing to score the third. In a final push the Carinthians pulled goalie Duba and Hunter Bishop made the game safe for Innsbruck's first Pick Round win.

Dornbirn earns first QR win
The game in Villach was like a playoff game from the first puck drop. Both goalies kept a clean sheet in a fast-paced opening period where both teams were at eye level. After the restart the hosts came out hard and generated a lot but were not able to beat Florian Hardy. The Bulldogs tried to hit their opponents on the break but Brock McBride missed the best chance against his former club. Game clock showed 35th minute when Daniel Ban opened the scoring on Dornbirn's second power play but even before the second intermission Miha Verlic tied it at one. It was a thrilling third period with the visitors having the better end. After killing a penalty, Jamie Arniel passed to James Livingstone who decided the game and sealed DEC' first Qualification Round win.
