Caps beat Znojmo to keep streak alive

On Sunday Vienna Capitals earned the only road win of game day 10 and kept their winning-streak alive. Champion HC Bolzano moved up to second place and EC Red Bull Salzburg got their fifth successive win.

Vienna Capitals had more chances and it took them ten minutes to open the scoring by Riley Holzapfel. It was the Canadian again to double the lead while being one man down and Rafael Rotter added one more to make it 3:0 after the first period. The home side changed goalies after the first period, Teemu Lassila came into net. Capitals kept the pace and Christopher DeSousa lit the lamp for another goal. The fifth came right after that as Emilio Romig found the back of the net. Then Znojmo showed their goals too, Marek Kalus scored his third goal of te season. The second one of Znojmo was a thing of beauty by Petr Mrazek, his shot from a top of the right circle ended above Lamoureux´s shoulder. The third period ended goalless with Vienna extending their streak thanks to a derby win.

After Dornbirn's Stefan Häußle missed the first chance of the game, HC Bolzano took advantage of a PP2 with Marco Insam finishing a nice combination. Soon later the puck crossed the goal line after Crescenzi's shot again but it was a "no goal" call after video review. Early in the middle the hosts failed to extend the lead and the Bulldogs tied it out of nothing when Pulli fired home. Thanks to a PP goal from Findlay, the hosts restored their lead in the second. In the third Dornbirn could not pressurize their opponents with Bolzano killing the clock successfully.

After missing some good chances Graz took the lead when Ken Ograjensek made the breakthrough while playing shorthanded, though. Fehervar turned the game around in the second. First, Janos Hari got the Hungarians on the scoreboard and then Szita made it 2:1. After a power play equalizer from Caito, Zack Philips restored Fehervar's lead again. With five minutes to go Zusevics sent the game into overtime. In the extra session the Hungarianscame close to decide it to their favour but due to a late penalty call, Graz kept the bonus points as Colton Yellow Horn scored with three seconds left.

It was all Salzburg in their home game against Medvescak. Dario Winkler opened the scoring with his first ever EBEL goal for a 1:0 Red Bulls lead after the first. Despite wasting some good opportunites Ryan Duncan extended it in the second. The hosts made the game safe with three third-period goals within four minutes. Pallestrang, Regner and a second Winkler goal made it 5:0. Salzburg goalie Michalek could not celebrate a shutout as Medvescak captain Sauve scored the consolation goal with five minutes to go.

Klagenfurt's first home game of the season was a mere four minutes old when Thomas Koch opened the scoring. The hosts had the better of the play but could not extend their lead. As a result Sedivy scored the equalizer in the second but Innsbruck's joy was short-lived as Bischofberger found the back of the net for a 2:1 KAC lead. An early PP goal from Yogan tied it again in the third and as no more goals were scored in regulation, the game went into overtime. In the extra session it was Adam Comrie who took the bonus point for Klagenfurt.

There were just a few chances early in the game but halfway through the first Rick Schofield put it in for a home lead. Kristler and Brockle hurst missed some good chances to double it while Villach did not become that dangerous. The guests came out hard for the second but let the momentum slip away with some penalties. Then, in the final period the Carinthians pressed hard for an equalizer but Linz killed the clock successfully.
