Dave Cameron came directly from the NHL to the spusu Vienna Capitals in the summer of 2018 as the successor to Serge Aubin, thus starting a new era for the Vienna Capitals. Last season, the line-up included six homegrown players - Sebastian Wraneschitz (19), Timo Pallierer (19), Lukas Piff (20), Patrick Antal (20), Fabio Artner (22) and Armin Preiser (20) - who made their professional debuts under Cameron. But the Caps' sporting record over the last three years under the 62-year-old is also respectable. The Canadian led Vienna straight to the finals in his debut season in 2018/2019. In the second year, the Capitals finished in the quarterfinals due to the Corona-related league break. Last season, Austria's capital club made it to the semifinals.

Dave Cameron, head coach of the spusu Vienna Capitals: "Vienna is a great city and the Vienna Capitals are a very well run organization. My wife and I feel very comfortable here. Even though some key players have left us, we will still have a strong team in the upcoming season. I am sure that our Vienna "Young Guns" will take the next step and we will be able to show spirited ice field hockey - hopefully in front of our fans again."
