The spusu Vienna Capitals were 2:0 ahead after 40 minutes in their first preseason home game against Czech representative HC Kometa Brno, with Dominic Hackl and Niki Hartl scoring the goals. Due to the warm temperatures, the ice was affected, which is why the game was ended prematurely after the middle period.

In the first of two preseason home games, the spusu Vienna Capitals hosted HC Kometa Brno on Thursday. The Viennese team took the lead as early as the third minute when Hackl capitalised on a rebound. After a pleasing period, the Caps went into the first break with a 1:0 lead. In the middle period, the hosts increased it to 2:0 while short-handed, with Hartl scoring after an ideal assist from Donohue. Goalie Parks then held on to the lead with some good saves. The game was abandoned after 40 minutes. Due to the warm temperatures, the ice was no longer safe for a third period.
