The spusu Vienna Capitals have extended the contract with Mario Fischer, with the captain entering his 13th consecutive season with the two-time champions. He has already played 689 games in yellow and black across all competitions.

Born in Vienna, Mario Fischer began his hockey career in his hometown before making the move to Finland for the 2004-05 season. After four seasons in the youth department of Rauman Lukko and ten second league games with SaPKo, the Viennese moved to EC Red Bull Salzburg. With the running champion Fischer, who was originally called up as a forward, won the championship twice in three seasons in the then EBEL. In April 2011, the then 21-year-old Viennese moved to his hometown to join the spusu Vienna Capitals. Fischer quickly developed into an absolute mainstay for the Danube city team. In the 2016/17 season, Fischer, who had since been transformed into an uncompromising defender, celebrated his third championship with the spusu Vienna Capitals. In August 2019, Mario Fischer was then named captain of the spusu Vienna Capitals. He played 689 competitive games (47 goals, 104 assists) for the yellow-and-black team.
