After spusu Vienna Capitals defended their top of the league yesterday, the chasing pack also earned wins on Sunday. While second-placed EC Red Bull Salzburg won the top game in Linz, Moser Medical Graz99ers and EC-KAC held the upper hand in front of their own fans. In addition, Bolzano's Andrew Crescenzi scored the season's 1000th goal.

In a battle of the best teams in the last few rounds EC Red Bull Salzburg earned a clear-cut win in Linz. Both teams scored once in the first but the visitors got to winning ways in the middle frame with Raphael Herburger scoring a brace. A few seconds before the second intermission John Hughes made it 1:4. 20 minutes later the Canadian rounded off the scoring with his hat trick for a 7:3 road win. It was Salzburg's first season win against Linz and a successful final rehearsal for Tuesday's CHL return game in Oulu.

Despite Innsbruck got an early lead thanks to a Wachter goal, Graz also won the third season meeting between these clubs. In the second the hosts turned the game around but this was not enoug as Mario Lamoureux tied it after the restart to the third. In further consequence Ty Loney added two power play goals and Robin Weihager made it safe - 5:2 Graz.

Despite having the better of the play for most of the game, EC-KAC was trailing twice in the home game against Bolzano. Visiting netminder Leland Irving performed great to keep a clean sheet for over two periods while Insam used a power play for a Bolzano lead. Early in the third Klagenfurt tied it but Crescenzi restored Bolzano's lead with the 1000th EBEL season goal. After Thomas Koch sent the game to overtime, Adam Comrie converted the deciding penalty in the shootout.

The fans in Znojmo saw a crazy game with the hosts taking a comfortable 4:1 lead into the first intermission. Zagreb never quit, though, and made it a one-goal game in the second again. Early in the third Erik Nemec restored a two-goal lead for the home team, but Zagreb was in the ascendancy and soon turned the game over. Tomas Kudelka and Greg Mauldin scored within a minute to tie the game at five and David Brine completed a big comeback by Medvescak to gain lead for his team for the first time. But Mikko Vainonen´s slapshot from the blue line with two minutes to go sent the game into overtime and eventually shootout where C.J. Stretch was the only lucky scorer.

After seven successive defeats Villach hoped to end their losing-streak against Fehervar and they had a perfect start with Stefan Bacher opening the scoring. Fehervar was the better team but they often failed because of VSV netminder Dan Bakala. Late in the first Anze Kuralt got the Hungarians on the scoreboard and the second was all Fehervar. Erdely (22.), Sarauer (22.) and Sille (28.) made the preliminary decision. The final 4:1 was Fehervar's first road win in regulation this season.
