The Alps Hockey League continues with five games on Thursday. All teams between 2nd and 7th place are in action again. Last season's runners-up HC Pustertal and champion Ljubljana have the chance to take over at the top of the table.

With seven successive wins Ljubljana climbed to third place. The Slovenes laid the foundation of their latest success in front of their crowd, being the best home team of the league. 9th-placed Zell am See, who also won the last two, is in reach of the top-6. It will be thr first return for Jure Sotlar, who ranks 5th in the league's scoring charts, to his home club as Zell am See player. The Salzburg side won three of six road games this season.

The 13th-placed Red Bull Hockey Juniors have not confirmed their performances of the last years. The team of head coach Teemu Levijoki struggled especially at home with only getting four points out of eight games. In addition, the Salzburg side has the weakest power play (8,9 %) available. The visitors from Gherdeina are flying high with winning the last six. The fury has been strong on the road, getting 13 points out of seven games. In AHL history, Gherdeina beat Salzburg four times with three wins after shooutout.

Pustertal started a six-game winning streak in early October, the alst games alternated between victory and defeat. The runners-up won all three AHL home games against Bregenzerwald, but lost the last two this season. ECB struggled defensively with conceded at least four goals against in their last five matches.

6th-placed Ritten build on their strength at home, getting 13 points in six games. However, Ritten, who have the best power play (42,9%) available, lost three of their last four games. On the other hand Vienna comes to Klobenstein after winning the last two before the international break. The league's new arrival has not won a single point on the road, though.

Both teams had a successful start into the new season but struggled in the last games - Cortina won 2 of 5 and Sterzing 1/5. Maybe it will be a battle of the special teams as the hosts have the best penalty killing (88%) while the Broncos have the second-best power play (36,2 %). In all of their previous eight AHL meetings, one goal was decisive.
