Salzburg got off to a dream start and took the lead in front of 2,400 fans after just 20 seconds with a goal from Benjamin Nissner. After that, the home team struggled to make an impact offensively and conceded the equalizer to the Polish champions in the 32nd minute. With the score at 1-1, the game remained open for a long time – until Thomas Raffl scored the 2-1 32 seconds before the end. The captain of the Red Bulls also sealed the win with an empty-netter nine seconds before the final buzzer. On Sunday at 17:30, Salzburg will face their next opponent at home again: the Pinguins Bremerhaven.

HCB South Tyrol Alperia's first Champions Hockey League game of the season ended in a 0-3 defeat at Frölunda Gothenburg. The Foxes put in a strong performance against the four-time CHL winners and kept the game open until an empty-net goal shortly before the end. The Swedes proved to be ice-cold in front of goal, while the White-Reds, despite several clear chances, found no way past goalie Normann. HCB goalie Sam Harvey also impressed with a brilliant performance (94.1% save percentage). Bolzano's next opponent is Finnish top club Lukko Rauma on Sunday at 15:00 in front of their home crowd.
