The 31-year-old, a native of Concord, Ontario, started the season in the Czech Republic in the ranks of Rytiri Kladno, with whom he played eight games. Ciampini is expected to arrive in Bolzano between Thursday and Friday and will immediately join team training.

After his university years, he made his debut in the AHL in 2014/15 in the jersey of the Worcester Sharks. After four seasons between the American Hockey League and the East Coast, he moved to Europe in 2019: with the Norwegian team Stjernen Hockey, he scored 52 points (23 goals and 29 assists) in 43 games. The following year, he signed on with Innsbruck in the ICE Hockey League: wearing the Tyrolean jersey, he collected 59 points from 48 games (28 goals and 31 assist) and finished the Regular Season second among the league's top scorers.
