On Wednesday, league leaders EC-KAC and second-placed EC Red Bull Salzburg celebrated convincing home victories. While Graz clinched a quarterfinal berth with a dominant win, Bolzano are also guaranteed a top-six finish despite suffering a heavy defeat in Linz. Alongside the Black Wings, Villach also earned an important victory in the battle for the pre-playoff spots.
EC-KAC – FTC-Telekom 5:2 (2:1, 2:0, 1:1)
Klagenfurt also prevailed in their fourth meeting of the season against Budapest. Fraser opened the scoring for the hosts just 63 seconds in, and the Red Jackets took a 2–1 lead into the first intermission. In the middle frame, goals from From and Dobrovolny extended the advantage to 4–1. The Hungarians reduced the deficit once more, but Petersen sealed the 5–2 win on a two-man power play.
EC Red Bull Salzburg – Hydro Fehérvár AV19 4:0 (2:0, 1:0, 1:0)
The Red Bulls were in control for most of the game, showcasing impressive passing plays as they celebrated their third straight victory. Coe put Salzburg ahead in the second minute, and Bourke doubled the lead shortly after. Stephens made it 3–0 in the middle period, before St. Denis rounded out the scoring in the third. Goaltender Kickert made 28 saves to record his fifth shutout of the season.
HC Falkensteiner Pustertal – Moser Medical Graz99ers 1:7 (1:3, 0:3, 0:1)
With their biggest win of the season, Graz secured a spot in the quarterfinals. Early goals from Roy, Zündel, and Harnisch gave the visitors a 3–1 lead after 20 minutes. Huber (2) and Reiner — with his first-ever ICE goal — added to the advantage in the second period. Haudum completed the scoring in the third to make it 7–1. The Styrians remain well-positioned to finish the regular season in the top two, which would earn them a Champions Hockey League berth.
Steinbach Black Wings Linz – HCB Südtirol Alperia 6:0 (2:0, 2:0, 2:0)
Linz took control early on with goals from Pusnik and Collins. Barron added two in the middle frame and completed his hat-trick in the third period, while Collins sealed the 6–0 result with a power-play marker. Despite the heavy defeat, the Foxes secured direct playoff qualification thanks to Vienna’s loss in Villach. For Linz, it was their second straight victory, lifting them to seventh place.
EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV – Vienna Capitals 4:1 (1:0, 1:0, 2:1)
With their third win of the season against Vienna, Villach moved back into the top ten. van Nes opened the scoring late in the first period on the power play, before Rebernig doubled the lead in the second. New signing Budgell scored his first goal for the Carinthians after a brilliant setup by Katic. Franklin pulled one back for the visitors, but Helewka’s empty-netter sealed the 4–1 victory.
