3,400 fans attended the second final game in the sold-out Salzburg Eisarena and the majority of the spectators had reason to cheer early in the game. EC-KAC defenseman Thomas Vallant (KAC) was sent to the penalty box in the second minute for hooking and the Red Bulls promptly took advantage of the overtime. Troy Bourke was in the right place in front of goal and scored with a deflection to make it 1:0, but the visitors from Klagenfurt were evenly matched throughout the period and also had chances to score. In the 17th minute, Nick Petersen finally went on a solo run and overcame RBS goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen. The players and fans of the KAC were thus able to celebrate a goal for the first time after more than 80 minutes of the final series.

Two more goals from Klagenfurt followed in the second period. First Lukas Haudum scored in the 24th minute to make it 2:1. In the 33rd minute, Paul Postma increased the lead to 3:1 with his first playoff goal. There was little from Salzburg in the second period. Although the Red Bulls had the same number of shots on goal as the KAC, they had no big chances at all. RBS were also unsuccessful in three powerplay situations.

The KAC also set the tone in the final period and scored twice again. First, Lukas Haudum scored again, becoming the player of the match with two goals and one assist, before Jan Mursak made the final decision in the 49th minute. Both goals were scored by the KAC in the powerplay. Mursak's goal was scored during a five-minute powerplay situation after Benjamin Nissner was given a game-misconduct penalty for a check to the head. Thomas Raffl made the final score 2:5 from Salzburg's point of view just three minutes before the end of the game. It was the 37-year-old's 14th goal of his career in the finals. This makes the Salzburg captain the new record goalscorer in the finals. So far, Raffl was on top together with Thomas Koch and Matthias Trattnig.

The "best-of-7" final series continues in Klagenfurt on Tuesday. PULS24 will broadcast live from 19:05.
