Olimpija Ljubljana remain the only unbeaten team in the win2day ICE Hockey League. On Sunday, the league leaders edged out Hydro Fehérvár AV19 with a narrow 3:2 shootout win at home. The closest pursuer of the “Dragons” is EC Red Bull Salzburg, who defeated the Pioneers Vorarlberg 4:1 – with the game tied at 1:1 until the final 16 minutes. HCB Südtirol Alperia celebrated another narrow home win, beating the Steinbach Black Wings Linz 3:2, while EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV earned a tight 4:3 victory at the Moser Medical Graz99ers.

League leaders Olimpija Ljubljana celebrated a 3:2 shootout victory against Hydro Fehérvár AV19 and remain undefeated. With 16 out of a possible 18 points, the Slovenians top the standings ahead of Salzburg (14 points). Fehérvár have seven points and sit in ninth place. In a hard-fought contest in front of nearly 2,900 fans, Nicolai Meyer put Olimpija ahead in the 28th minute with his fourth goal of the season. Just 23 seconds later, the visitors equalized, and less than five minutes after that, they turned the game completely around. The Hungarians held their narrow lead until the 55th minute, when Robert Sabolic tied the game to the delight of the home crowd. In the shootout, it was Zach Boychuk who converted the decisive penalty.

Salzburg victorious against Pioneers
Defending champions EC Red Bull Salzburg earned a 4:1 win against the Pioneers Vorarlberg. The strong visitors initially went ahead through a powerplay goal by Collin Adams (9’). The score remained 0:1 until the 21st minute, when Michael Raffl tied the game for the Red Bulls just after a powerplay expired. It was already his tenth point of the season and his second goal. The game remained balanced until the 44th minute, when Peter Schneider scored on the powerplay to make it 2:1 – his first goal of the season. Just four minutes later, Lucas Thaler extended the lead to 3:1, effectively sealing the win. Benjamin Nissner rounded off the victory with a spectacular coast-to-coast goal (57’), also his first goal of the season. In the standings, Salzburg sit second with 14 points after five wins in six games. The Pioneers remain in twelfth place.

Narrow home win for Bolzano
In another close contest, HCB Südtirol Alperia claimed a narrow 3:2 home victory over the Steinbach Black Wings Linz, extending their winning streak to four games. Linz, on the other hand, suffered their fourth straight defeat. Bolznao now sit third in the standings, while Linz remain in eleventh place. After a scoreless first period, Graham Knott gave the visitors from Upper Austria the lead in the 22nd minute. Just four minutes later, Dustin Gazley equalized with his 100th goal in a Bozen jersey. Six minutes later, Cole Schneider put the hosts ahead for the first time. However, Linz responded quickly, as Emilio Romig tied the game just 90 seconds later. It stayed 2:2 until the 49th minute, when Luca Frigo capitalized on a Linz defensive error, broke away alone against Rasmus Tirronen, and scored the decisive 3:2 goal.

Villachwins in Graz
3,800 fans attended the match between the Moser Medical Graz99ers and EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV. Luca Erne scored his first goal of the season early to give the visitors the lead, but the Styrians tied the game through a powerplay goal by Kevin Roy. In the second period, VSV pulled away with two goals in just 37 seconds: first Paul Sintschnig scored, then the 16-year-old set up Alex Wall, who finished beautifully. Frank Hora cut the lead to 3:2 in their second powerplay (39’), and early in the third period, former VSV player Chris Collins tied the game 3:3 with another powerplay goal. But the Carinthians answered back quickly, as captain Alexander Rauchenwald put the visitors ahead again. VSV held on to their narrow lead, and with the win, returned to the Top-6.
