The Hockey Unterland Cavaliers finished their first Regular Season in the Alps Hockey League with a 4-2 victory over EC Die Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. With their 20th win in this league, the newcomer confirmed their second place in the first phase. With the 2:4 loss, the Eagles gave away their last chance to still take a spot in Qualification Round A, even though they set the tone m the game against Unterland until the 38th minute and led 2-1. But then the AHL newcomers put in an impressive finish, scoring three goals in 20 minutes to take the win. The Cavaliers had already clinched second place in the Regular Season before this encounter.
Cortina conquers third place in the Regular Season
S.G. Cortina Hafro left Red Bull Hockey Juniors behind with a win in the last round. After three losses in a row Cortina finished the regular season with a 5:1 victory over HC Meran/o and secured the third place in the standings. Meran will finish the first phase of this stage - depending on further results - either in ninth or tenth place. In the match on Friday evening Cortina set the tone from the start and took a 3:0 lead until the 36th minute. Merano did not come back into the match and finally had to admit defeat with 1:5.
Zell conquers pole position in Qualification Round
EK Die Zeller Eisbären was the last team to be eliminated from the race for the Master Round. In the last round of the Regular Season, however, the pole position for the Qualification Round could now be fixed. In the game against SHC Fassa Falcons, the team from Salzburg took a 3:0 lead already in the first seven minutes. In the end the Polar Bears won 4:2 and start with six bonus points into the Qualification Round A. There they will meet the Falcons again, who have to start from 13th place without bonus points in the same group.
Ritten jumps to fourth place in last round
A few days ago, the Rittner Buam were the last team to clinch the last playoff ticket for the time being and a place in the Master Round. In the last round of the Regular Season the premiere champion of the Alps Hockey League could now even conquer the fourth place in the regular season. The "Buam" fought their way to a 4:2 victory in the away game over HC Gherdeina. However, the opening goal on Friday evening was scored by the hosts after less than a minute. Ritten, however, struck back twice in the first period and quickly turned the match around.
