Francesco Taufer and Giovanni Toffoli were absent in Cortina because they were involved in the National Under 20 team. Lustenau returned to play after 8 days since the last match and they couldn’t have David Slivnik. The first penalty, as often happened in the Alps Hockey League, was already important: Phillip Winzig sit down on penalty bench for a tripping after 34 seconds from the first face off. The Cortina realized after 52 seconds of powerplay with a shot at the intersection of Nick Trecapelli on assists of Mathieu Ayotte. The home team was certainly very careful as they played in a very determined way. The visitors began to be more dangerous in the second part of time also for penalties against the Cortina. The draw came after 16 minutes with a shot in the traffic for David König's goal. The beginning of the second period was very lively. Lustenau took the lead after just 45 seconds of play. Cortina lost the puck out of the zone and Martin Grabher Maier finalized the action of the guests for the first advantage of the EHC. But the game was a burst of emotions. After less than 2 minutes a non-dangerous shot by Devin Di Diomete surprised Maris Jucers. After just 28 seconds Cortina scored again with Mathieu Ayotte after a nice action by Riccardo Lacedelli. After this goal the Lustenau changed the goalkeeper: Timo Waldherr entered. The game remained very open. The Austrian team equalized with Chris D'Alvise in powerplay. The two teams closed on a parity the first two periods (3: 3). In the third time the opening was like the other two periods. Nick Trecapelli scored the new advantage at the end of a personal action and which ended with a touch of backhand for the most beautiful goal of the match. At this point the game remained poised. Lustenau tried to break even but Marco De Filippo made a couple of saves. Timo Waldherr left the net in advance: Devin Di Diomete scored the goal of the final 5: 3 with an empty net goal. Cortina consolidated its 11th position. The Lustenau remained at 38 points for the fifth position in the standings.
