Cortina snatches home right from Salzburg

S.G. Cortina Hafro managed to snatch home rights from Salzburg in the third semifinal match against Red Bull Hockey Juniors. After a narrow home win on Saturday, the northern Italians added an emphatic away win on Monday to move to 2-1 in the best-of-seven semifinal series. The third game of the second semifinal series in the Alps Hockey League will be played on Tuesday.

S.G. Cortina Hafro took the lead in the semifinal series. The northern Italians celebrated a 6-1 victory over Red Bull Hockey Juniors on Monday. The guests acted much more efficient from the beginning. After only 31 seconds Tommaso Traversa provided the lead. Still in the first period Cortina managed to follow up in a shorthanded situation, before the hosts scored for the first time in the second period and reduced the score to 1:2. From this point on, the Italian champions ignited the turbo and scored four goals within 15 minutes to make it 6:1. In the final period, the Juniors tried to get back into the game with a crowbar, but always failed against Marco De Filippo Roja, who saved a total of 33 shots this evening. The score remained at 6:1, with Diego Cuglietta, who scored a brace, also impressing the Cortina keeper.
