Dan Ceman has already recorded a number of successes in his young coaching career: At the start of the 2013-14 season, the soon-to-be 47-year-old coached Denmark's first division side SønderjyskE for five seasons and won the national title twice. In the last two seasons he coached HC Banska Bystrica in the Slovakian Tipsport Extraliga. In his first campaign (18/19) he won the title, and in the season that was interrupted due to the Corona pandemic Bystrica was also at the top of the table.

"Dan Ceman is a successful and young coach, who stands for modern, fast hockey and also has a great character. The opportunity arose for him at short notice, so we took up the offer immediately and reached an agreement with him quickly. I am glad that we could win him for the VSV", explains VSV sports director Gerald Rauchenwald.
"Villach is a traditional and good place for hockey. It is an honor for me to be the head coach here. My family and I can't wait to come to Villach. I'm really looking forward to it and I'm convinced that I'll be able to form a team and put it on the ice that will fill the enthusiastic VSV fans with pride and passion," said Dan Ceman in a first statement.
