Daniel Jakubitzka played all of the Sharks' games last season (49 ICE, 8 CHL) and scored 14 points (1G/13A). Tirol underwent a shake-up in the summer, with Jordan Smotherman taking over as coach alongside several new imports. The preseason has not gone according to plan so far, with the HCI losing all six games - the final test follows on Wednesday at home against Bolzano. "Preseason is preseason, but we would have preferred more success. The imports are already well integrated into the team and all of them have great character. We'll certainly play more aggressively under the new coach," says Jakubitzka.

The defenceman made his league debut for Salzburg in the 2015/16 season. Jakubitzka played two regular season games for the eventual champions, where he spent a total of six league seasons. The Red Bulls were a welcome guest at the TIWAG Arena last campaign, with Innsbruck coming out on top twice. "It's something special when you win at home against your former colleagues. I hope for many home wins in the new season. The league has got faster every year since I started playing, which is fun."
